This is my "interpretation" of the September Virtual Sketch. As I mentioned in a previous blog (see blog entry 13 the August) flower painting and drawing is not my thing....but I am always up for a challenge and this was a challenge. It was difficlt to sort out where one petal ended and another started and also to try to get the effect of the glass vase.
I did this version on blue mountboard and using a mixture of Faber Castell and Prismacolor pencils.

Hi Marion, this was not my forte either and I knew it would be a challenge. You did a good job on it!
For someone who doesn't like flowers and drawing, you did beautifully. This is lovely.
I'm not a flower person, but I love drawing. But I like to push myself out of my comfort zone now and then and see what I can come up with.
Marion, I would not have guessed that flower drawing was "not your thing". The petals were confusing but you did a nice job figuring them out. I like the blue mountboard for the dark background.
Nice job Marion.
Nice piece of work Marion, another brave artist working on a dark background. Well done.
I thing this is beautiful and a unique composition. I agree, florals are not my thing either, but it is good to get outside of our comfort zones occasionally. Your sketch is highly successful!
its a nice flower, never would have thought you had trouble with flowers from looking at this. :)
This is a great drawing!
You've got a nice sense of light here...with the whites bouncing around. Well done. It's fun to take a challenge and do something different isn't it?
Hi Marion!
I, too, had trouble seeing where the petals started and stopped!
What a nice result you have.
Glad you gave the Virtual Sketch Date a try!
Beautiful little piece, Marion. What size is this?
The blue mountboard makes for a very different overall look and I love the resulting more uniform pallette. This looks wonderful!
I really like the way you addressed the reflections in this piece. Very nice, I really like seeing all the different presentations of these peonies.
Pretty and soft petals and nice glass work.
Very nice work!
Love it on the blue board!
Your VSD turned out lovely. I envy people who can use colored pencils...I always seem to resort to watercolor/pen and ink! You did a terrific job.
Hi Marion, I just left you a comment, but I must have made a mistake, because it didn't post. I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your VSD sketch and love how you use colored pencils...I always try them but resort back to watercolor and pen/ink. There is so much out there to learn. I have also posted an award on my site for you to pick up if you would like it.
That is really lovely and works well on the blue.
I agree... great flower... and the glass... really cool
So, to see more colored pencils. All the great differences. Well done.
